Description
FabiFlu is the generic version of Avigan by Glenmark Pharma, Inc. of India.
FabiFlu is a treatment for reemerging or novel influenza virus infections. In India, Indonesia and other countries, it was used in combination with Ivermectin to control the infection explosion.
The action of Favipiravir, the main ingredient of Avigan, differs from that of ordinary antivirals, which prevent the virus from entering and leaving cells.
By selectively inhibiting RNA polymerase, it blocks the replication of the viral genome, preventing RNA strand extension and viral replication.
Favipiravir is currently licensed and marketed as an early treatment for new influenza viruses in major countries around the world, including Germany, Russia, China, India, and Thailand.
